Prithvi Shaw marks his presence at IIFA Awards alongside girlfriend Nidhi Tapadia
The cricketer recently played for DC in the IPL 2023 and scored only 106 runs in eight matches.
Youngster Prithvi Shaw made his first public appearance with his girlfriend Nidhi Tapadia at the IIFA awards on Friday, May 26. On the green carpet of IIFA, Shaw was spotted posing with Nidhi, the video of which went viral on social media. The cricketer was decked in all black, wearing a sleeveless jacket, black shirt, black jeans and a black cap to top that. Meanwhile, Nidhi, who is known for her modelling and acting, was wearing a black saree as the couple posed for pictures for the paparazzi.
Notably, the cricketer recently featured for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2023 and was in very poor form initially for which, the team management eventually dropped him from the playing XI. Later on, the Mumbai-born opener made his return to the playing XI and also scored a half-century against Punjab Kings. However, other than that, Shaw hasn’t done much for Delhi this year.
In eight matches in the IPL this year, the 23-year-old managed to score only 106 runs and that’s a massive concern going forward. He recently got an opportunity to feature in the Indian T20I squad and it was his chance to build on that momentum but the cricketer absolutely failed to do so and with that, it is very likely that the selectors might drop Shaw from the upcoming T20I series against West Indies. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was terrific with the bat in the ongoing IPL seems to be the favourite to replace him.
Meanwhile, Shaw’s off-field controversies have made headlines quite a few times in the past year. He was involved in a heated argument with influencer Sapna Gill for which, the cricketer later filed a FIR. However, despite all these controversies, Shaw was sensational in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022 and 2023. He scored 595 runs in six matches in the Ranji Trophy while having 332 runs in 10 matches in the last edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
