Prithvi Shaw was recently left out of Mumbai's squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, beginning on Saturday, December 21. According to multiple reports, the right-handed batter has not been dropped only because of his insipid form but also because of his fitness and disciplinary issues.
As per the latest reports, Shaw skipped training sessions regularly after showing up at the team hotel at "six in the morning." Moreover, he was also accused of being out for most of the night. After the claim went viral, the former India Under-19 captain came up with a cryptic Instagram Story.
"If you don't understand it fully, don't speak on it. Too many people have full opinions, with half the facts. Friyay," the Mumbai batter wrote.
While addressing Shaw's exclusion from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had asserted that the 25-year-old batter has disregarded disciplinary guidelines frequently and is "his own enemy".
A senior official of the MCA claimed that the side was at times "forced to hide" him on the field due to his abysmal fitness, discipline and attitude. Shaw had expressed his frustration at not being picked in the 16-man squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in a viral social media post a few days ago after being a part of the side's title-winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT 2024) campaign.

Delhi Capitals did not retain Shaw for IPL 2025
It has been a disappointing year for Prithvi Shaw as he has made no progress as far as a comeback to the Indian team is concerned. He had a forgettable Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign, where he scored just 198 runs from eight matches at an average of 24.75.

Shaw wasn't retained by Delhi Capitals for the 2025 edition of the IPL. To make matters worse, the Thane-born couldn't find a team in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He has been out of India's playing XI since July 2021. The talented batter will want to get back to the drawing board and bring out his A-game as he hopes to don the national colours once again.
