After toiling hard in the domestic circuit, youngster Prithvi Shaw’s hard work has finally paid off as he has been recalled in the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand. This will mark his first international appearance since July 2021.

Meanwhile, the emerging cricketer has now come forward and shared his Instagram stories containing all the congratulatory texts he received after a well-deserved India call-up which serves as an added motivation for the youngster as he looks to prove a point with this comeback.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s white-ball squads on the night of Friday, January 13. While Rohit Sharma will be leading the team in the ODIs, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been handed the captaincy duties in the T20Is.

This will be Pandya’s fourth stint as India’s T20I skipper having led the Men in Blue to series wins in Ireland, New Zealand and recently against Sri Lanka.

Notably, the selectors have once again decided to field a young side in the T20Is with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli being rested for the series.

Prithvi Shaw finally gets rewarded for his hardwork and perseverance

This comeback has not been easy for Prithvi Shaw as he was constantly ignored by the national selectors despite showcasing outstanding performances in domestic cricket consistently. However, he did not give up hope and continued to strive for fruitful results in the domestic arena and now has been rewarded for his efforts and dedication.

Recently, the youngster scored 379 runs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022/23 fixture against Assam. He had also scored a match-winning 46-ball ton against the same opposition in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022.

With India rebuilding their squad in the shortest format with an eye on the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies, Prithvi Shaw would be hoping to be a top contender and cement his place in the T20I side by showcasing consistent performances from here on.
