Peshawar Zalmi beat Multan Sultans by 4 runs in a last-over thriller
In an exhilarating PSL encounter, Babar's Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious by four runs against Mohammad Rizwan's Multan Sultans in a nail-biting last-over showdown. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Zalmi set an imposing total of 204. Saim Ayub and Babar initiated the innings with an explosive 84-run partnership in around 7 overs before the former departed after being trapped in front for 46 off Usama Mir's delivery, which was reviewed to be overturned after the on-field decision was 'not-out'. Babar continued to anchor the innings, crafting a solid 64 off 40 deliveries. Usama Mir and Chris Jordan demonstrated excellent bowling performances, claiming three and two wickets, respectively, conceding 32 and 33 in their respective quotas, respectively.

In pursuit of 205, the Sultans battled hard but ultimately fell short, managing 200 within their allotted 20 overs. Iftikhar Ahmed and Chris Jordan contributed massively with the bat as well, with unbeaten scores of 60 off 27 balls and 30 off 12 balls respectively, forming a tenacious 75-run partnership for the sixth wicket. However, their efforts couldn't steer the Sultans to victory. Recent pace-bowling sensation Aamer Jamal secured two crucial wickets for Zalmi, while Mehran Mumtaz and Naveen-ul-Haq scalped a wicket each, with the former being the most economical bowler of the match, going at a miserly rate of 5.
With this win, Zalmi ascended to third place in the PSL points table, with four wins from eight games. Meanwhile, Multan Sultans maintained their leading position despite the loss, showcasing their dominance in the tournament up until now.
