Rachin Ravindra signs poster for CSK fan in New Zealand
Ravindra was bought by CSK for INR 1.8 crore at the IPL 2024 auction.
Chennai Super Kings’ latest recruit Rachin Ravindra made quite the buzz through his performances recently. The 24-year-old put forth exceptional performances for New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023, and was bought by five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings at the auction ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Ravindra had a sensational run in the World Cup, which made him a fan favourite. The youngster scored 578 runs in the tournament in 10 matches and was one of the highest run-getters of the tournament in 2023. The 24-year-old was brought in by CSK for a sum of INR 1.8 crore, as the likes of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals were involved in a bidding battle with the five-time champions as well.
The defending champions will hope that Ravindra will continue his form and impress in his first season of the marquee tournament. Meanwhile, in a clip doing the rounds all over social media, Ravindra can be seen giving an autograph to a CSK fan after a practice session in New Zealand.
Chennai Super Kings aiming for sixth IPL title
CSK were quite active in the IPL auction, bolstering their squad with several Black Caps players. The franchise brought in the likes of Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra while they already have star batter Devon Conway in their squad.
MS Dhoni-led Chennai became the joint most successful side in IPL history after defeating Gujarat Titans in the summit clash in 2023 as they equalled Mumbai Indians' five titles. With many star players in their arsenal, CSK will look to leave no stone unturned in the upcoming IPL season as they aim for a sixth title in the 17th edition of the tournament.
