Indian men’s cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid was spotted with his wife Vijeta watching Cooch Behar U-16 Trophy match between Karnataka and Uttarakhand at the SDNRW Ground in Mysuru on Friday, December 01. The couple were present to watch their son Samit Dravid play who was also a part of the Karnataka squad.
Notably, Samit first grabbed attention with a match-winning 150 in a Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) BTR Under-14 tournament in 2018. Recently, he was also selected to play for Karnataka in the 2023 Vinoo Mankad Trophy. However, he didn’t have a memorable outing in the tournament scoring just 122 runs from four innings with one half century to his name.

He scored a brilliant 87 off 95 balls against Mumbai with the help of ten fours. However, Samit’s knock went in vain as Karnataka lost the match by 46 runs failing to chase down 346 in their allotted 50 overs. He also picked 2/59 in ten overs with the ball in the same match.

Rahul Dravid offered contract extension by BCCI
Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid’s contract as the head coach of the Indian team was recently extended by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). The 50-year-old was appointed head coach of the side in 2021 after India’s first stage exit from the T20 World Cup 2021. Since then, Dravid has held the position for over two years, however, team India’s major trophy drought since 2014 continued under his tenure as well.
With Dravid at the helm, India lost the semi final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and finals of the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup 2023 at home. However, the management was impressed with India’s consistent performances in all three formats which helped them climb to the top of the rankings in all three formats.
