Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Washington Sundar brings up second first-class ton as Tamil Nadu tighten up against Delhi
This was Sundar's first ton in the red-ball game after a period of more than 7 years.
Tamil Nadu extended their dominance as well as augmented their first innings total as Washington Sundar registered his second first-class ton in his 31st game during his state's ongoing Ranji Trophy game against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Sundar, who more often than not come comes in to bat at No. 6 or No. 7, found himself promoted up the order at one drop after skipper Narayan Jagadeesan was cleaned up by Navdeep Saini. From thereon, it was all about Sai Sudharsan coupling with Sundar to amass the runs and misery on a perplexed Delhi attack which did not seem to have much clue about the batters in the middle. Sundar brought up his ton through a streaky edge which bounced just wide of the left of the second slip with an unsuccessful chase from Delhi's Jonty Sidhu, which meant Sundar brought up his ton in 178 deliveries.

TN stand tall at Lunch, Sundar on the cusp of surpassing previous-best FC score
Tamil Nadu was placed at 507/3 at Lunch on Day 2 of the ongoing Test. Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Sundar are the two unbeaten batters, promising to progress in the final session of the day.
Sundar is currently unbeaten on 140*, and it is highly likely that he will surpass the 159 he scored against Tripura in October 2017. Sudharsan, who scored 82 in the opening round of the competition against Saurashtra, brought up a sensational double-ton before nicking one behind Saini to grant him his second dismissal of the match.
