The Group B game in the Ranji Trophy 2024 being held between Mumbai and Bihar at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna has grabbed headlines for reasons other than cricket. A clip of the venue has been going viral all over social media which shows the stadium in a dilapidated state.

The viral video shows a fan giving a view of the entire stadium one day ahead of the Ranji game as the Mumbai team is seen practising in the middle. However, the condition of the stands is extremely shabby as there’s hardly any place for the fans to sit and watch the game.

Notably, the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium has hosted nine international matches. The last major game at the venue was a women’s ODI between India and South Africa in December 1997. Since then, the venue hasn’t hosted any high-profile game resulting in its ruined condition that has now come into public light.

Meanwhile, coming to Day 1 of the Mumbai vs Bihar Ranji Trophy match, Mumbai captain Shams Mulani won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the start wasn’t a memorable one for the visitors who lost their opener Jay Bista (2) with just five runs on the board.

After the early blow, Bhupen Lalwani and Suved Parkar stabilized the innings with their 91-run stand for the second wicket. Their stand was broken by Sakibul Gani who accounted for Lalwani for 65. In his very next over, Gani dismissed Sarafaraz Khan for 1 to give the third blow to Mumbai.

However, Suved Parkar held one end and scored a brilliant half-century (50 off 111). Bihar seamer Veer Pratap Singh dismissed Parkar and captain Shams Mulani to leave Mumbai in all sorts of trouble at 137/6. Handy contributions from Shivam Dube (41 off 61) and Tanus Kotian (50 off 69) saw Mumbai finish on 235/9 at stumps on Day 1. Veer Pratap Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Bihar with figures of 4/32 while Sakibul Gani also picked up two wickets (2/60).
