Virat Kohli has just silenced his critics once again after a blistering knock of 77 off 49 balls against the Punjab Kings as Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the game by four wickets. He stepped up to the occasion as usual when RCB were in dire need of resurgence having lost their top order. Just after receiving the Player of the Match award, the star batter was seen interacting with his family over a video call as the camera person captured the moment.

Kohli’s inning came in the wake of rumours surrounding his potential drop in India’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024 prospects. The swashbuckling batter not only notched a substantial chunk of runs for RCB, but he batted at a strike rate of 157.14, which was the alleged point of concern for management not considering him for the marquee event.

The 35-year-old has been spending some quality time with his family off late. He has not played an international game since his last appearance for India against Afghanistan during the T20I series. He had played only two matches and was rested for the subsequent game. Notably, he withdrew from the Test series against England citing familial reasons, which were later reckoned to be of his second child's arrival. Moreover, his appearance at RCB’s unbox event on March 19 meant he was back in public glare after almost two months.

Virat Kohli registers century of fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket 

The former India captain brought his 100th fifty-plus score in T20 cricket with his flamboyant knock against PBKS. His match-winning innings on Monday saw him garner 51 scores that are fifty-plus for RCB alone. He has a total of 92 fifty-plus scores across T20 cricket and eight centuries. His ability to accelerate in the middle, particularly during the 12-15 overs, is an enigma that opposition teams are still trying to find an answer to.
