India head coach Gautam Gambhir, who is a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP), has reportedly received a death threat from an entity calling itself ‘ISIS Kashmir’. Gambhir informed the Delhi Police of the incident so that they could take immediate action.
The former two-time Indian Premier League-winning captain, in response to the threat, has formally submitted a request for the registration of an FIR, according to the SHO of Rajinder Nagar Police Station and the DCP Central Delhi.
Gambhir reportedly received two threats on Tuesday, April 22, with both emails containing the message ‘IKillU’. While one email came in the afternoon, the other one was received by the ex-India opener in the evening. Delhi Police are expected to investigate the matter thoroughly and take action to ensure the safety and security of Gambhir and his family members.
For the unversed, this is not the first time Gambhir has received such threats. In November 2021, when he was serving as an MP, he got a similar email.
Meanwhile, Gambhir took to his official 'X' (formerly Twitter) account and condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased souls. Gambhir also hoped for a retaliation from India.

Gambhir is currently on leave after guiding India to success in the 2025 Champions Trophy last month. He will reunite with the Indian team after the conclusion of the IPL. India's upcoming assignment is a highly-anticipated five-match Test series against England in the United Kingdom. This will mark the start of India's campaign in the 2025-2027 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
Rohit Sharma and Co. missed out on playing the final in the ongoing cycle after suffering back-to-back Test series defeats against New Zealand and Australia. They will look to forget what happened in the past and come out all guns blazing against England later this year.
