Reports: Narendra Modi to be the chief guest for ODI World Cup Final 2023

The Indian team has secured their spot in the final and will be facing off against the winner of the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa.

In a recent development, It has been announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest for the ICC Men's ODI World Cup Final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.

The Indian Team has secured their spot in the final and will be facing off against the winner of the second semifinal which is being played between Australia and South Africa at the Eden Garden in Kolkata.

India and Australia to face in the final 

Australia defeated South Africa by 3 wickets in semi-final 2 to book a berth in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Australia's victory came off a brilliant bowling performance and resilient batting which saw South Africa get knocked out of the semi-final stage yet again. 

Travis Head was picked as the Player of the Match for being brilliant with the ball as well as the bat. He took two important wickets in the first innings and continued his all-round performance with 62 runs in the second. 

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma-led side have reached the final of the tournament on the back of an invisible campaign. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand in the semi-final by 70 runs to be the first team to reach the final in this year's tournament. 

The semi-final match was even more special as Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most ODI centuries in the world. With 50 to his name, Kohli now stands atop the ODI century scoring charts in world cricket. Fans would be hoping for a similar performance from him in the final as well. 

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami however snatched the Player of the Match award from Kohli as well as another centurion Shreyas Iyer in the semi-final. The right-arm pacer took 7 wickets to bring the Kiwis to their knees and win the match for India.
