It is undeniable that India captain Rohit Sharma is at the receiving end of immense flak after a disastrous outing with the bat. After he led the Indian team to the T20 World Cup 2024 title in June 2024, his captaincy has also been under the scanner with India losing series after series.
It was imperative for the veteran to appear in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 for Mumbai as the Indian players were pressured to play the domestic tournament to hit back to form. As it stands out, the right-handed batter appeared for Mumbai in a game against Jammu and Kashmir. He came up with the scores of three and 28. With the criticism escalating further, the Mumbaiker has received a much-needed moral boost from a 15-year-old fan via an emotional letter addressed to him. The young fan urged Rohit to ‘never retire’ and also added that 'Haters will hate, but your leadership is top notch'.
"Haters will hate but your leadership is top-notch. You are the best character on the field and you have succeeded as both, a player and captain in EVERY SINGLE FORMAT. I've followed you forever and watch every game just for you. Please just never retire, I can't imagine how I'd turn on the TV and feel if I don’t see you walking out to open the innings," read an excerpt from the fan letter.

It is worth noting that, the 'Hitman' aka Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian team in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have refused to let India travel to the host country, Pakistan and all of their games are scheduled to be held in the neutral venue of Dubai.
