Australia missed a couple of opportunities to dismiss the dangerous Rohit Sharma in the 2025 Champions Trophy semi-final clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday, March 4.
Rohit hit an outstanding pull shot that went the distance over mid-wicket off the second ball of the second over bowled in the Indian innings bowled by Nathan Ellis. The right-arm pacer bowled the following delivery short and wide outside the off-stump and Rohit went for the cut. The ball was dipping on Connolly, who had to drop low to take the catch. However, he spilled the opportunity as Rohit was given an early reprieve.
However, this wasn't the only stroke of luck that came Rohit's way in the early goings of the second innings. The India captain tried to chip Ben Dwarshuis in the third over but the ball flew off the bottom of the bat to the left of Marnus Labuschagne, who was stationed at mid-off. Labuschagne scampered to his left and put in a full stretch dive, identical to the one from Travis Head in the 2023 ODI World Cup final to dismiss Rohit. However, this time, the ball slipped out of the Aussie fielder's grasp.

Rohit, who was looking to play with a positive intent, tried to slog-sweep Connolly. However, the ball was too full to play that shot and the 37-year-old failed to connect. The umpire didn't take long to raise his finger. Rohit asked for the review, but it came back with three reds.
