India and Sri Lanka are all set to lock horns in the Asia Cup 2023 final on Sunday, September 17 at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Both teams are preparing themselves for the summit clash as they look to win the coveted title. Notably, India are the most successful team in the history of Asia Cup as they have seven titles to their name. The Rohit Sharma-led side will be eager to further extend their dominance by claiming their eighth title by beating defending champions at their home.

Ahead of the final, a video of captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill has been going viral all over social media. In the viral video, both the Indian openers are seen standing outside a lift. Further ahead in the video, Gill asks something to Rohit and the Indian captain replies, “Arey aise nahi hoga, Pagal hai kya?'

Notably, Gill has been in sensational form in the Asia Cup 2023 so far as he’s the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 275 runs to his name from five innings at an average of 68.75 and a strike rate of 90.46 with one hundred two fifties to his name.

 The 24-year-old scored a magnificent hundred (121 off 133) in the last Super fours fixture vs Bangladesh and kept India in the hunt during the chase. However, his innings went in vain as India lost the match by eight runs and after 4200 days vs Bangladesh in the Asia Cup. On the other hand, Rohit has also had a good tournament so far having scored 194 runs from five innings with three half-centuries to his name. The Indian captain will be eager to continue his form in the big final as well.

Axar Patel ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 final

Meanwhile, in a major blow to India, all-rounder Axar Patel has been ruled out of the Asia Cup final due to left quadriceps strain sustained during their Super four clash vs Bangladesh. Washington Sundar has been named as his replacement and has joined the squad ahead of the big clash.
