Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli meet young fan in Sri Lanka, sign iconic T20 World Cup 2024 final photograph

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are putting in the hard yards in Sri Lanka ahead of India's upcoming three-match ODI series.

The legendary Indian cricketers - Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli recently met a young fan during a net session in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The two players are getting ready for the upcoming three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka.

The young boy was carrying the iconic photograph of Kohli and captain Rohit together with the T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy and the national tricolour on their back. The Delhi batter walked up to the youngster and gave him his autograph before posing for a picture. Rohit also met the little one and posed for a photo. The heartwarming video has garnered a lot of love and praise from cricket enthusiasts.

Rohit, Kohli set to play first ODI since 2023 World Cup final

India are scheduled to play three ODIs against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 2, 4, and 7. Initial reports suggested that Rohit and Kohli would give the series a skip but fans were delighted to find their names in the 15-man squad.

This is going to be the first time the two batting greats step onto the field to play an ODI encounter since last year's agonising World Cup final defeat to Australia. The ODI series against Sri Lanka will also mark the international returns for Rohit and Kohli as they last appeared in the T20 World Cup final on June 29. Both of them announced their retirement from T20I after winning the final. Since then, India have played eight T20Is and won seven.

Rohit and Kohli performed exceptionally with the bat during the ODI World Cup 2023. The latter finished as the highest run-getter, aggregating a record tally of 765 runs from 11 innings at an average of 95.62. Meanwhile, Rohit finished as the second-highest run scorer of the tournament with 597 runs from 11 innings at an average of 54.27. They will want to resume from where they left off in the 50-over format.
