Rohit Sharma's blitzkrieg against Afghanistan comforts Suryakumar Yadav post surgery

India captain Rohit Sharma put on a breathtaking batting display during the third T20I of the series against Afghanistan on Wednesday, January 17 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru registering his fifth hundred in the format. The opening batter played a scintillating innings of 121* (69) clobbering 11 fours and eight sixes during his knock.
Among the millions of people admiring Rohit’s sensational innings was star India batter Suryakumar Yadav who was witnessing the knock on his hospital bed. Notably, Suryakumar underwent a groin surgery in Germany and shortly after his operation he began watching Rohit and Rinku Singh’s incredible partnership against Afghanistan.
Suryakumar Yadav’s wife Devisha Shetty shared a short clip on her Instagram story revealing that the cricketer began watching the match just 20 minutes after coming out of surgery.

Devisha also put a heartwarming message for Suryakumar on her Instagram story post his successful surgery sharing her ordeal of seeing him sedated on the hospital bed.
"My strong boy. Seeing you sedated and unresponsive was so hard. But then sometime later, you opened your eyes and smiled at me. That one smile meant so much. Can't wait to see you on the ground real soon,” wrote Devisha on her Instagram.
Meanwhile, India and Afghanistan put up a thrilling encounter on show in Bengaluru as the result of the match had to be decided by two super-overs, a first-ever instance in international cricket. After opting to bat first, India were reduced to 22/4 in 4.3 overs with Virat Kohli out on a golden duck.

However, Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh (69* off 39) put on a massive unbroken 190-run stand for the fifth wicket off 95 balls to propel India’s score to 212/4 in 20 overs. In reply, Afghanistan levelled the score with half-centuries from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (50 off 32), Ibrahim Zadran (50 off 41) and Gulbadin Naib (55* off 23).

There was more drama, as the two teams further got tied on 16 runs in the first super over prompting them to play another one. The second Super Over finally produced a result as Ravi Bishnoi successfully defended 11 runs helping India complete a 3-0 whitewash. Rohit was awarded Player of the Match for scoring a world record fifth T20I hundred while Shivam Dube was awarded Player of the Series for scoring 124 runs and picking 2 wickets in the series.
