Rohit Sharma received rich praise from Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary, who hailed the legendary batter for his excellent understanding of the game.
Rohit is known for his tendency to forget things. There have been instances where he has forgotten what to opt for after winning tosses. Chaudhary, who has officiated in many games where Rohit has played and seen the Mumbai batter operating from close quarters, asserted that his laid-back approach shouldn't fool people into thinking he is casual about the game. Instead, Chaudhary lauded him for his cricketing IQ and his ability to play tearaway pacers with consummate ease.

"It seems that he’s casual, but actually, he is a very smart player. He has a very good idea (about his game). Don’t fall into the trap that he forgets things at the toss. His cricketing IQ is fantastic. When he bats, it feels like he is facing at 120kmph, while when others are facing the same bowler it feels like 160kmph. His sense of the game is very good. So, he might seem casual, but he’s not," Chaudhary said on the Shubhankar Mishra podcast.
Chaudhary also mentioned that umpiring to India's Test and ODI skipper is very easy as he does not play too many unorthodox shots.

"Umpiring to Rohit Sharma is very easy. Either he’s out, or he’s not out. Because he does not play in unorthodox shots. Umpiring to such players is not a tough task. His shots are straight forward and textbook ones," Chaudhary stated.

Rohit has played 59 Tests, 265 ODIs, and 159 T20Is for India. He retired from the shortest format of the game after helping the Men in Blue win the T20 World Cup in June. The 37-year-old will return to action during India's upcoming two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19. The Asian giants are currently placed at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings and would want to consolidate their position with a solid performance against their neighbours.
