RR vs GT: Gujarat Titans rejoice after Yashasvi Jaiswal's departure following horrible mix-up with Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first.
The 48th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed a clash between last season's finalists Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, May 5.
RR skipper Sanju Samson elected to bat after winning the toss. The Royals' star opener Jos Buttler continued his poor form as he was dismissed by GT skipper Hardik Pandya in the very second over of their innings. The England batting stalwart drove the ball up, resulting in a straightforward catch for third man fielder Mohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, Mohit ran out Yashasvi Jaiswal while he and Samson were making an effort to build a much-needed partnership. When Rashid came into the attack, Samson precisely timed the ball to the point fielder inside the ring. However, he took a few steps down the track before coming to a halt but Jaiswal was halfway down. Despite losing two crucial wickets, RR managed to score more than 50 runs in the powerplay.

Jaiswal fails to carry the century-momentum from previous game
In RR's previous IPL 2023 clash against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI), Jaiswal scored his maiden century at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 30, despite his team suffering a six-wicket loss. He scored 124 off 62 deliveries before being dismissed by Arshad Khan. His knock was studded with 16 fours and eight boundaries.
The 21-year-old batter currently sits second in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list. He has amassed 442 runs from 10 innings at an average of 49.11 and a strike rate of 158.42. He has scored three half-centuries and one century in the ongoing season.
