Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj destroyed South Africa in the second and final Test at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. The duo picked up 15 wickets together during the match, which India went on to win comprehensively by seven wickets. This marked India's first win in Cape Town, and also they became the first-ever Asian team to register a Test win at the venue.

Siraj, who claimed a six-wicket haul in the first innings, emerged as the Player of the Match in the game. Notably, his excellent bowling spell helped India to bundle out the hosts by a mere 55 in the first innings. While collecting the award, Siraj brought fellow paceman Bumrah as his translator. However, the Indian seamer responded in English to the anchor's first question itself. Subsequently, the duo looked at each other and began laughing.

Interestingly, the second Test between South Africa and India happened to be the shortest red-ball game to conclude with a result, with only 642 balls (107 overs) bowled. On Day 1, the decision to bat first backfired severely for the hosts, as they were bundled out for just 55 in the first innings. Later, India took a 98-run lead while batting, courtesy of Virat Kohli's 46(59), while Kagiso Rabada sent five Indian batters packing.

Batting for the second time, the Dean Elgar-led side could manage only a 78-run advantage over the visitors, as Indian pacers breathed fire, especially Bumrah, who shone with 6/61. Siraj, on the other hand, took the key wicket of Aiden Markram, who scored 106 off just 103 balls to bring something to cheer for the Proteas. Both the pacers, thus, turned out as too hot to handle for the opposition.

Bumrah took his ninth five-wicket haul in his 32nd Test match and third in the rainbow nation. It is the joint-most for an Indian bowler, tied with former speedster Javagal Srinath. On the contrary, the Hyderabad-born registered his best figures in Test cricket to justify his Player of the Match award, whereas Bumrah shared Player of the Series award with Elgar, who scored 200 runs in the series.
