Sachin Tendulkar honoured with custom Number 10 jersey during Dallas Cowboys NFL game

Legendary former India batter Sachin Tendulkar recently caught headlines after he was felicitated with a custom Number 10 jersey from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones during an NFL game in Houston, USA. Tendulkar getting honoured in America goes to show the increasing popularity of cricket in the country. 

It is worth noting that Tendulkar has been playing a key role in popularising cricket in the USA through his involvement with the National Cricket League (NCL). Pictures of Tendulkar being present at the NFL game with the Dallas Cowboys were shared on the team’s official Instagram handle. 

The pictures of the same quickly went viral as Sachin Tendulkar posed with his custom jersey alongside the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in the viral picture. 

As the co-owner of the NCL, the former India batter has been hard at work introducing the sport to the American audience through the new lucrative Sixty Strikes format. Recently, the 51-year-old came forward and inspired many young athletes at the University of Texas at Dallas. He also talked about how much the sport has given him and how humbling of an experience it is to interact with the young athletes. 

"Cricket has given me so much, and being here in Dallas-both teaching these young athletes and receiving this incredible recognition been truly humbling," Tendulkar was quoted as saying by NDTV.

"Inspiring these kids and sharing my journey with them has been incredibly fulfilling. I want them to know that with dedication, passion, and belief, they can achieve anything-whether on the cricket field or in life,” he added. 

The NCL has done a tremendous job in mixing elite level cricket with cultural events, even including community focused initiatives. The NCL included stars like Shahid Afridi, Suresh Raina, Shakib Al Hasan, and Chris Lynn, branding itself as one of the biggest events on a global scale.
