IND vs AUS: Sachin Tendulkar lauds the performances of three Indian players after day 2
India put up a score of 321/7 on Day 2 of the first Test, after Rohit Sharma's ton along with fifties from Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel puts the hosts in the driver's seat.
Following the end of day two of the first Test in Nagpur between India and Australia, there were a lot of positives for the hosts to take away. After a magnificent display by the Indian bowling attack on the first day, the Australian team only managed to put up a score of 177 on the scoreboard.
With the bat, India were just as impressive as skipper, Rohit Sharma, led from the front and scored a scintillating knock of 120 off 212 balls. Thereafter, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel were impressive with the bat as well. Following team India’s dominant display across the two days, legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to reflect on the performances of Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
"The trio of Rohit, Ravindra, and Ravichandran have helped India get ahead in this Test. Rohit has led from the front with his 100 while R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have got us important breakthroughs," Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.
Australia still searching for solutions
At the end of day two, team India leads the Aussies by 144 runs. Having lost seven wickets up to this point, both Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have played exceptionally well. So far, Jadeja has scored 66 runs off 170 balls, while Axar Patel has played 52 runs off 102 balls as of the end of day two.
The Australian team will be looking to quickly dismiss the remaining wickets at the start of the third day and then focus on batting to make up for their subpar performance on the first day of the match. 22-year-old Todd Murphy has been exceptional with the ball so far for the Aussies. The debutant completed his five-wicket haul after taking the wicket of KS Bharat, who also made his debut for India.
Team India will be looking to put up even more runs on the board on the third day, as Axar Patel and Jadeja looked comfortable facing the constant attack of the Australian bowlers.
