Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been hospitalized in Thane after his health condition deteriorated. Medical examinations have revealed clots in his brain, making a significant health challenge for the 52-year-old. Kambli was admitted to Akriti Hospital, a private facility in Thane district, Maharashtra, on (Monday) December 23, following complaints of a urinary infection and cramps.

Doctor Vivek Trivedi, who was overseeing Kambli’s treatment, confirmed that the former cricketer’s condition led to the discovery of brain clots after detailed medical examinations. His health is now under close observation, with further tests planned to ensure a comprehensive assessment. During treatment, Kambli also remembered his childhood friend and former India teammate and legend, Sachin Tendulkar.

"I would say that I am alive because of the main doctor. But whatever training I am given, I will only say that what we get, whatever God gives, name the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. I will not say that. I love him. I will say Namaste to Sir. Sachin has gone to London. But he will come to know it," Kambli said as quoted by News24.

Marcus Couto, a close friend, shared updates on Kambli’s recovery, noting that while his condition is stable, he has advised the hospital to continue treatment for an extended period. Hospital authorities have assured that Kambli’s health needs will be prioritized, and hospital in-charge S. Singh has offered lifelong free medical care for Kambli.

Tendulkar last met Kambli during Sir Achrekar's memorial event

Several former players, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev, have offered support to the left-hander. Tendulkar, Kambli’s childhood friend, has been instrumental in providing financial help, quashing rumours of any rift between the two.
