Sudharsan has been making headlines with his consistent performances across formats. He was a standout performer during India A’s tour of Australia, where he scored a century against Australia A in the 1st unofficial Test at Mackay. Before this, he registered stellar performances in the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and even for Surrey in the English County circuit.
Despite these performances, Sudharsan narrowly missed out on being retained in the main Indian Test squad for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Instead, his India A teammate Devdutt Padikkal was chosen to stay back in Australia.
Following his return from Australia, Sudharsan played just one match for Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Tripura, where he scored nine runs. He then flew to London for surgery. The procedure, the specifics of which have not been disclosed is likely to be an old upper-back injury that he has sustained.
The 22-year-old has already represented India in three ODIs and a T20I. In his ODI debut series against South Africa last December, he scored two consecutive half-centuries, averaging 63.50. Furthermore, he has also been retained by Gujarat Titans for the upcoming 2025 IPL season for INR 8.50 crore.
