On Day 4 of the Duleep Trophy 2024 Match 3 game between India A and India D, the team was three down chasing a behemoth target of 488. Sanju Samson provided a respite for India D and smacked some early boundaries to catch back the lost momentum.
Notably, he took Shams Mulani and Aqib Khan to the cleaners. As a result, the Kerala-based wicketkeeper-batter scored a combined five boundaries off two India A bowlers. The 29-year-old was eventually cleaned up by Mulani who was having a field day for his team.
Sanju Samson departed after a brisk 40 runs off just 45 deliveries. Mulani and Tanush Kotian proved meticulous for the defending team. Courtesy of their vital bowling contributions, India D were reduced to 279 for the loss of eight wickets within 80 overs.

Ricky Bhui showed resistance with gritty century against India A
Speaking of other India D batters who created a difference in front of a mounting target, was Ricky Bhui. The 27-year-old came into bat at number three and scored a resilient 113 off just 195 deliveries. His magnificent knock was complemented by 14 boundaries and three maximums, respectively. He was the seventh wicket down for India D when he holed out to Riyan Parag in slip, off Kotian.

After Bhui, there was no substantial contribution from the tailenders as two quick wickets hampered the cause of the team. Shreyas Iyer looked in sound touch batting at number five, as he scored 41 off 55 balls with the help of eight boundaries. Mulani was the man writing his departure letter as he dislodged the timber of Mumbaiker.
