Legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar made a return to the cricket pitch as he participated in the One World One Family Cup Charity Match on Thursday, January 18 at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Sathya Sai Grama, Bengaluru. Tendulkar led the One World Team full of legends such as consisting of names like Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Danny Morrison.

Seeing her father’s return to cricket pitch, Sachin’s daughter Sara Tendulkar got emotional as she captured videos of his father playing and wrote the word ‘Nostalgia’ with a crying emoji on her Instagram story. She also uploaded a short clip of him batting with a heart emoji as well.

Notably, the game was organized by the Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission to raise awareness regarding child healthcare. It was the first-ever match at the newly constructed venue where Tendulkar led One World to a four-wicket win over One Family.

One Family team batted first as openers Darren Maddy and Romesh Kaluwitharana (22 off 15) added 39 runs for the first wicket. Their stand was broken by Monty Panesar who dismissed Kaluwitharana. Mohammad Kaif walked in at number three but got dismissed cheaply for 9 (11) losing his wicket against Harbhajan Singh.

Meanwhile, opener Maddy ended up scoring a brilliant fifty getting dismissed for 51 (41). Apart from him, contributions from Parthiv Patel (19 off 13), Yusuf Pathan (38 off 24) and Yuvraj Singh (23 off 10) propelled One Family’s score to 180/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, One World got off to a brisk start with openers Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha (25 off 18) adding 31 runs for the first wicket. Following his dismissal, Alviro Petersen walked in at number three and played a brilliant innings of 74 (50) to help his side home.

Tendulkar got dismissed after a brief innings of 27 (16) while Upul Tharanga also made a valuable contribution of 29 (20). Irfan Pathan took the team over the line with his cameo of 12* (5). As a result, One World chased down 181 in 19.5 overs and won the match by four wickets.
