India batter Sarfaraz Khan finally realized his dream of representing his country at the highest level as he made his Test debut on Thursday, February 15 against England at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. It was an emotional moment for Sarfaraz and his family as his father Naushad Khan was moved to tears seeing his son being presented his India cap.

His wife Romana Zahoor, who was also present at the stadium, also couldn’t hold her tears back as Sarfaraz wiped them off. The 26-year-old also got a chance to bat on Day 1 of the third Test playing a magnificent innings of 62 (66) with the help of nine fours and a six. While his father and wife were present at the venue to cheer for Sarfaraz, his brother Musheer Khan surprised him with a video call at the end of the day’s play.

Speaking on the call, Musheer revealed that he was a bit worried seeing his brother bat when he top-edged a delivery of Joe Root. However, after seeing the ball clear the in-field he took a sigh of relief.

“Well played brother! Thoroughly enjoyed it. I was playing fine, right?, said Musheer Khan on the call.  “You will also represent India one day, see this (shows his India cap). Musheer Khan (my brother) whenever I struggle a bit with my batting, I watch his batting, because our batting styles are similar. I felt really good after talking to my brother. Half of my family is here, and the other half is in Mumbai at home. It was a pleasant surprise, it’s a memorable and important day of my life. I thank Almighty for this,” said Sarfaraz in a video released by the BCCI.

Notably, Sarfaraz’s brother Musheer Khan was a part of the Indian team in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup 2024. The 18-year-old finished as the second-highest run scorer of the tournament with 360 runs to his name from seven innings at an average of 60 with two hundreds and one fifty to his name.
