BCCI announced the Indian squad for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand, along with the squad for the opening two Test matches against Australia. Although Prithvi Shaw made his much-awaited return to the T20I squad after a prolific domestic season, Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan was overlooked. The young batting ace expressed his disappointment via his Insta stories in the aftermath of his snub.
Team India decided to call up young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan for the all-important Test series against Australia. They even handed a maiden Test call-up to T20 superstar Suryakumar Yadav in a bid to bolster India's middle order. However, the selectors turned a blind eye towards Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan, who has been breaking records on the domestic front for a couple of years now.
Sarfaraz was clearly disappointed after his latest snub despite a mind-boggling run for Mumbai in red-ball cricket over the last few seasons. He shared his stats via his Instagram story, with only the legendary Don Bradman boasting of a better average in domestic cricket than the Indian ace. In the second story, he shared his stats while playing for Mumbai in first-class cricket, where he averages an astonishing 110.73 with 2436 runs to his name in just 30 innings. He has registered nine centuries and six half-centuries for Mumbai along with a marvelous unbeaten triple century to his name.

Several cricket experts and fans alike were perplexed by the decision of the selectors to hand someone like Suryakumar Yadav a maiden Test call-up instead of giving a chance to Sarfaraz in the longest format of the game despite his recent exploits in Ranji Trophy.
