South Africa came very close to winning the second T20I against India as opening batter Quinton de Kock held his position till the end of the innings, whereas middle-order batter David Miller notched up a magnificent century to keep Proteas in the game. But the visitors fell short of 16 runs as India scripted history by winning a T20I series against South Africa at home for the first time ever.
While Indian batters did a tremendous job, David Miller stole the limelight in the second innings with his unbeaten 47-ball 106-runs knock. Even till the last over of the game, he kept South Africa’s hopes alive, but unfortunately, his efforts went in vain. Miller was disappointed with the results, but was very happy with the way he batted, and his partnership with Quinton de Kock.
“It was very tough, to be honest. I don't really come around too often but scoring in an innings like that felt very special. Really disappointed as it goes towards a losing cause. Quinny (Quinton de Kock) batted exceptionally well. Struggled up front but he batted all the way through and it was great to have a really good partnership with him,” Miller said in a video shared by Cricket South Africa.
You are never guaranteed success: Miller
Miller was really impressed with the support he received from Quinton de Kock during the game, as the duo shared an unbeaten, record 174-run stand for the fourth wicket. He also stated that learning from his past mistakes has helped him develop his game and bat well.
“It was really hot so just tried to not run as much and try and hit as many boundaries as possible. But yes, it was a great partnership and I really enjoyed batting with Quinny again. Where I am right now, I am feeling really comfortable with my game. You know you are never guaranteed success but I just feel like learning from my mistakes from the past and trying and get myself nice and set, backing myself a lot more but really enjoying my cricket,” he added.
