Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has started a new innings on the pitch of Politics as he recently became a part of Bangladesh’s ruling party ‘Awami League’. The all-rounder has begun campaigns for the 2024 General Elections and is actively involved to ensure victory for his party.
The cricketer has been involved in several campaigns of late as numerous videos of him have surfaced online. In one of the clips, Shakib is seen being swarmed by fans asking to click photographs with him. However, the cricketer looks completely disinterested in the event as he is seen yawning and posing without any expressions.

Notably, Shakib last played for Bangladesh during the ODI World Cup 2023 where he led his side to an eighth spot finish in the ten-team tournament with two wins from nine matches. Notably, Bangladesh started the tournament well with a six-wicket win over Afghanistan however they failed to keep their winning momentum going and ended up losing six matches on the trot.
The Shakib al Hasan-led side even faced an embarrassing defeat against the Netherlands losing the game by 87 runs while their only other win in the tournament came against Sri Lanka in the second-last fixture.
Captain Shakib also didn’t have a memorable tournament with both bat and ball scoring just 186 runs from seven innings at an average of 26.57 with one half-century to his name. With the ball, he could only pick nine wickets from seven innings at an average of 36.55 and an economy of 5.26.

Shakib al Hasan has most wickets for Bangladesh in all three formats
The 36-year-old is counted among the greatest all rounders of modern day cricket having a plethora of runs and wickets to his name across all three formats. The Magura-born cricketer is the leading run scorer for his side in T20is with 2382 runs from 116 innings. The left-arm spinner is also the leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh in all three formats having 233 wickets in Tests, 317 wickets in ODIs and 140 scalps in T20Is.
