Shakib Al Hasan, known for his professional prowess, is hailed as one of the finest all-rounders in cricketing history. However, his aggressive nature on the field has occasionally landed him in controversies. During a domestic T20 match involving his side Mohammedan Sporting against Abahani Limited, exhibited a startling on-field outburst, kicking the set of stumps at the bowlers' end and engaging in contentious exchanges with umpires, in a display of unacceptable conduct from the seasoned campaigner.

Before a Dhaka Premier League 2024 match between Prime Bank Cricket Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Shakib was immersed in a serious discussion with the head coach of SJDC and former Bangladeshi cricketer, Sheikh Salahuddin, and other team members. In the midst of their conversation, a staff of the groundsmen, wearing a purple cap and a violet-coloured jersey came up to the group with his phone with the intention of capturing a selfie with the Bangladeshi icon. Not liking the manner in which he just interrupted the intense discourse going on, Shakib angrily tried snatching the fan's phone and also attempted to slap the fan who initially resisted getting hit and then went away beyond the boundary line to sit in the stands, visibly flabbergasted by the entire episode.
