Yuzvendra Chahal had a ball at the Rajasthan Royals nets as skipper Sanju Samson practised his strokes ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday, March 17.

In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on social media, Chahal could be seen sarcastically hailing Samson during a practice session.

“Sanju’s hype man behind the nets, brought to you by his Chintu," the former IPL champions wrote in the caption of the post.

Samson missed out on an opportunity to play in the ODI World Cup 2023 as India picked KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan as the two wicketkeepers in the squad. The Kerala batter will look to make a strong case for his selection to India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 which is scheduled to be held in June. A solid performance with the bat in IPL 2024 could catapult him into the side for the marquee event.

In IPL 2023, the right-handed batter scored 362 runs in 14 matches at an average of 30.17 and a strike rate of 153.39. Under his leadership, the Royals narrowly missed out on a playoffs berth as they finished at No. 5 on the points table.

Rajasthan Royals begin their IPL 2024 journey against Lucknow Super Giants

The Rajasthan-based franchise will be in action on Sunday, March 24 when they take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. This is going to be an afternoon fixture and the players are going to be greeted with hot and humid conditions.

The Royals have a slender 2-1 lead in the head-to-head scoreline against the Super Giants. Last year, these two teams faced each other only once in Jaipur. The KL Rahul-led Lucknow won the match by 10 runs as they defended a target of 155. Cricket enthusiasts will hope for another close encounter between the two strong teams on Sunday.
