Shot of the Day - Sublime Rahul lofts Arshdeep Singh down the ground - LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024

KL Rahul looked in sound touch when he came out to bat against Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium. In his brief 15-run knock he gave the shutterbugs enough meat to feast upon. When Arshdeep Singh was bowling the fourth over the innings, Rahul lofted a pitched-up delivery over mid-off. He extended his pose knowing he had connected it well and replays did justice. 

The third delivery of the over was dispatched for a boundary by Rahul that was again pitched up by Arshdeep. Rahul anticipated the ball leaning towards the delivery and lofted it over the bowler’s head as the ball reached the fence in a hurry.

However, the young left-arm pacer had the last laugh after being taken to the cleaners by his senior. This time, Arshdeep bowled a back-of-a-length delivery and angled it across Rahul’s stance. Rahul tried to leverage the pace and guide to the backward point but failed to keep it down the found and Jonny Bairstow did not let it slip through.

Rahul played as impact player, Pooran captains LSG

Rahul is playing just as an impact player in the match as confirmed by Nicholas Pooran. Pooran walked into the field for the toss and revealed that the Karnataka batter has been given respite owing to his recovery process after sustaining a quadriceps injury during India’s Test series against England. Notably, the right-handed batter was out of action for two months.

LSG are reeling at the bottom of the table as they have played one game and lost. They were outsmarted by Rajasthan Royals in the opening game by 20 runs. It is worth noting that LSG have not won an IPL trophy and their counterparts in today's game PBKS are still in search of the silverware since the inception of IPL.
