‘Should work in drama industry’ - Wasim Akram lambasts Abdullah Shafique after controversial celebration
Shafique dived towards his left to pick up a brilliant catch, but his celebration afterwards created controversy in PSL.
After picking up a brilliant catch of Imad Wasim in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, cricketer Abdullah Shafique celebrated by putting his finger over his mouth. Notably, Shafique was a substitute fielder and was stationed in the first slip and dived towards his left to pick up a sharp catch. Soon after that, Shafique was spotted looking at the stands and silencing his critics. His teammates soon joined as he stopped the celebration.
Meanwhile, the criticism comes after Shafique’s poor fielding effort in the Test series against Australia. The 24-year-old dropped some key catches which helped Australia win the series 3-0. Reminding that, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram criticised Shafique for celebrating in that fashion and stated that he should rather work in the drama industry than play cricket.
“No doubt, brilliant catch, great catch but who is responsible for dropping 36 catches in Australia's Test series? Who will answer for that? Abdullah should work in drama industry rather than cricket,” Akram said on A Sports.

Later, Naseem Shah made 27 runs off 16 deliveries, but it wasn’t enough for Islamabad as they lost by 17 runs.
However, Islamabad bounced back in their next game against Karachi Kings, as they defeated the opponents by five wickets. Courtesy of the same, Islamabad are currently third on the points table and are on the verge of qualifying for the play-offs.
