England Women’s captain Heather Knight has said that no warnings were given to Charlotte Dean for backing up too far at the non-striker’s end during the final ODI against India Women. Deepti Sharma effected the run out in her bowling stride as India won the game to clinch the series 3-0.
It was India's first whitewash over England on their soil in the 50-over format. Meanwhile, a lot of former cricketers had their say on the controversial ending to the game. Deepti recently told that the Indian team had issued warning to Dean before dismissing her.
"It was a plan, because we had warned her [for leaving the crease early] repeatedly," Deepti told reporters as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. "We did things as per the rules and guidelines. We told the umpires as well, but she was there [outside the crease]. We couldn't do much," she added.

Meanwhile, Knight has said that no warnings were issued to Dean, adding that a warning is mandatory to be given under the laws. She went on to note that there is not any need to lie about ‘warnings’ after effecting the run-out comfortably.
1/2 The game is over, Charlie was dismissed legitimately. India were deserved winners of the match and the series. But no warnings were given. They don’t need to be given, so it hasn’t made the dismissal any less legitimate… https://t.co/TOTdJ3HgJe

2/2 But if they’re comfortable with the decision to affect the run out, India shouldn’t feel the need to justify it by lying about warnings 🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/TOTdJ3HgJe

Earlier, Sam Billings was not much impressed with the way India clinched the series as he felt that the dismissal was against spirit of the game.
