In a recent award ceremony held in Mumbai on August 21, 2024, several cricketers hogged the limelight. As has been the tradition, the 26th edition of the special event was held for the same but important reason - to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the cricketers in the recent past.

Apart from the stylishly clad cricketers who had all assembled at the venue, it was one particular moment that took center stage. This particular instance transpired right as the audience was getting seated before the spectacle commenced. This was a warm exchange between the two Mumbai boys, Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma.

The cameras zoomed in on the T20 World Cup-winning skipper walking down the aisle, seemingly with two vacant chairs left as Rohit searched for one to perch on, but to no avail.

After Rohit reached the first row, he caught the eye of someone familiar and extended his arm to greet that particular individual. It was then that Iyer, who was seated in the second row, immediately rose from where he was seated and very humbly requested Rohit to take his place instead of sitting in the first row.

Rohit immediately recognized Iyer and exuded his characteristic grin at him to appreciate the expression by his junior and good friend. After patting Iyer on the back, it was Rohit who sat where Iyer was sitting and Iyer happily positioned himself in the first row.

Coming to the actual ceremony, it was Rohit who quite deservedly won the Men's International Cricketer of the Year accolade, and rightly so. As for Iyer, the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders won the T20 Leadership Award for guiding the esteemed franchise to their first Indian Premier League title in a decade.
