As a result, the stunning shot left fans and even skipper Rohit Sharma in awe. India, chasing a target of 229 runs, started strongly with Rohit and Gill providing a solid start. During their opening partnership, the incident occurred on the fourth ball of the 9th over. The Punjab-based batter was dished out a short-of-length delivery from Tanzim.
However, instead of getting bothered by it, Gill executed a short-arm jab that sent the ball 98 meters away into the second tier over the deep mid-wicket region. Even Rohit Sharma, who was at the non-striker’s end, acknowledged the shot with a smile as if he was in awe of the majestic six.
