Former Pakistan cricketer, Inzamam-ul-Haq had passed a scathing remark on Indian pacers getting a reverse swing at the later end of the innings under the scorching sunlight. He added that the ball has undergone physical manoeuvring to cater to the needs of Indian pacers. When India captain, Rohit Sharma, was asked to comment on the remarks, he quashed the argument as baseless and said that it’s the case with every other team.

Indian pacers were ruthless in their attack during the games in New York. Their assault was palpable when the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya ripped apart Pakistan batters in a low-scoring encounter. After Rohit’s retaliation, Inzamam added further fuel to the fire by schooling the India captain to not teach Pakistan how the reverse swing is generated. It is worth noting that Indian pacers have used the short ball ploy more than the ball nipping in and out.

“What should I say now about this? You are playing in such hot sun, the wicket is so dry, the ball reverses automatically. It's happening for all the teams, not only ours. All the teams are reverse-swinging. Sometimes, it's important to open your mind,” Rohit had responded to the former cricketer's remark ahead of the semifinal in the pre-match presser.

“The first thing is he (Rohit Sharma) mentioned that reverse swing is happening, just like we said earlier. Secondly, Rohit Sharma doesn’t need to explain to us how reverse swing occurs, in what intensity of sunlight it happens, or on which pitch it occurs. Those who teach you these kinds of things don’t need to be told these things. We should tell him that such conversations are not appropriate,” reacted Inzamam while speaking to 24 News.

While India have not tasted the silverware since 2013, South Africa last won an ICC tournament in 1998. This will be the first instance in the history of the T20 World Cups that an unbeaten team will lift the trophy, given either of them win the final.
