The final of the ongoing IPL 2023 featured a clash between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT), at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 29. After Ravindra Jadeja won the game for Chennai and earned them their fifth IPL title, the veteran Indian all-rounder gifted his bat to Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ajay Mandal.
The 27-year-old took to Instagram to share a picture of Jadeja’s bat and penned a heartwarming note, and thanked Jadeja and Chennai for giving him the opportunity to share a dressing room with Jadeja. “Hope you guys remember that Sir Jadeja’s last 10 runs of 2 balls in final match. After that he gave me that bat only as a blessing..sir Jadeja for you. Big thanks to @chennaiipl for giving me the opportunity to share a dressing room with Jaddu bhai,” Ajay Mandal wrote on his Instagram story.
Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL 2023 final
Talking about the summit clash of the IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans came in to bat first after losing the toss. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha provided a blistering start to the first innings. Gill scored 39 runs in 20 balls, whereas Saha amassed 54 runs in 39 deliveries. Sai Sudharshan’s knock was crucial for Gujarat in notching up a huge total on the board as the 21-year-old scored 96 runs in 47 deliveries, and helped Gujarat post 214/4.
Coming in to chase, Chennai put in a valiant performance with the bat, as Devon Conway (47 off 25) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26 off 16) gave a quick start to the MS Dhoni-led side. Furthermore, Shivam Dube played an unbeaten knock of 32 runs in 21 balls. As the match went down to the wire, Ravindra Jadeja hit back-to-back boundaries to win the game for Chennai and propelled them to their fifth title win.
