Former Indian batter Murali Vijay recently came forward to call out Sanjay Manjrekar following the latter’s on-air comments about him. Vijay took to Twitter to express his disappointment with Manjrekar after latter was surprised by a statistic.
It all began when the commentators were discussing the conversion rate of Indian openers in home Test matches. The list of the openers with the best conversion rates at home was topped by none other than Murali Vijay where the 38-year-old had a conversion rate of 60 percent and was ahead of names like Mohammad Azharuddin, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.
Reflecting on the same, Manjrekar said that he was surprised to see Murali Vijay’s name at the top of the list which did not go down well with the 38-year-old. Vijay took to Twitter to call out Manjrekar, as he wrote, "some Mumbai ex players can never be appreciative of the south ! #showsomelove #equality #fairplayforall @sanjaymanjrekar @BCCI."

Manjrekar also opined on Rohit Sharma’s form as of late
Rohit Sharma has been essential man for team India over the years and the Indian skipper proved his worth once again by an excellent batting display against the Aussies. The Indian skipper led from the front and attacked the Australian bowlers right from the start in the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Before the start of the series, Manjrekar also talked to ESPNcricinfo about how Sharma could be important for India, saying, "Rohit Sharma's last complete series came against England, and he performed really well there. Since he is coming back into Tests after a long time, the issue is match practise and match fitness. But, with the technique he has and the temperament he has at this stage of his career, it is great to see. If he can close the gap caused by lack of practise soon, then India will have a reliable top-order batter for the series."
