India bulldozed West Indies in the first Test as the away side emerged victorious by an innings and 141 runs. The second Test in Trinidad, which is also the 100th Test overall between the two sides, began on Thursday, July 20. The hosts looked good in patches, but India ruled the roost thanks to half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit, Sharma, and Virat Kohli. The day ended with India at 288/4.
The former Indian captain, Kohli, played a fantastic knock of 87 runs in 161 balls and remained unbeaten at stumps. He formed a partnership of 106 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (36*), and the experienced duo will hope to continue the good work on Day 2.
Virat Kohli hit eight boundaries during his stay at the crease. The 34-year-old has been known for his ability to take quick singles and doubles, and that was on show during his innings. During his spectacular knock, there was an instance when the legendary batter had to put in a dive to reach his crease safely. West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva was heard on the stump mic saying, "stealing doubles since 2012".

That is not the only thing the 25-year-old was heard saying about the India batter. Da Silva mentioned that his mother told him she would come to the Queen's Park Oval to see Kohli bat.
"My mom called me and told me she's coming to watch the match for Virat Kohli, I couldn't believe it," Da Silva said.
Virat Kohli nearing 76th international hundred
Virat Kohli had a chance to get a hundred in the first Test against Kraigg Brathwaite's men. However, he fell short of the mark by 24 runs as he was dismissed by Rahkeem Cornwall.
The right-handed batter will hope he can knock off the 13 runs he needs for his 29th Test hundred and 76th overall in international cricket. It would be the icing on the cake for the talismanic cricketer, who is playing his 500th international game.
