India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant met with a near-fatal car accident and sustained multiple injuries on December 30 while travelling to his hometown. He hasn't competed in any event since then. Notably, he is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
The 25-year-old was ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he is undergoing rehabilitation. In his absence, Australia star opener David Warner was named Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper.
Pant has made some impressive recovery so far. He recently posted a video on his Instagram account of himself performing some exercises as part of his recovery process.
"Stretching out feeling good," he captioned the video.
He had previously released a video of his health condition's progression on social media. He was seen walking without crutches for the first time in the video as he flung away his crutches so he could show his physio the condition of his legs. He was able to stand properly as well as walk smoothly without anyone’s support.
Delhi Capitals languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table
Delhi Capitals are having a forgettable season so far as they are struggling at the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table with eight points. The David Warner-led side has only won four of their 11 matches so far in the season. Their previous defeat came against four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 10.
Delhi will next take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, May 13. Punjab currently sit on eighth place with ten points. The Shikhar Dhawan-led side is also coming off a terrible loss after losing to the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
