Sunrisers Hyderabad have announced a major leadership reshuffle ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has named Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins as their new captain after removing Aiden Markram from the position.
SRH shattered records by acquiring Pat Cummins for a staggering INR 20.5 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, making him the second most expensive buy-in league in history. The franchise was keen to get the Australian Test captain on board, with Daniel Vettori joining the team management for the auction. SRH announced Cummins' appointment in a social media post, "#OrangeArmy! Our new skipper Pat Cummins 🧡", the post read.

While Aiden Markram showcased his leadership skills with SunRisers Eastern Cape, his stint as SRH captain failed to bring the desired results. Hyderabad finished at the bottom place in IPL 2023 with just four wins from 14 matches.
Meanwhile, Cummins comes in as a skipper on the back of a successful 2023 where he led Australia to the ODI World Cup title and the World Test Championship final win.
