The number one ranked T20I batter in the world, Suryakumar Yadav, is eager to learn more and get better in his game. In a chat with Mumbai Indians teammate Dewald Brevis, the 32-year-old asked the youngster to teach him how to hit a no-look six and also mentioned that he actually tries to copy the Johannesburg-born cricketer time to time.
Gushing at his words, the youngster replied that he would love to teach the India international but wants to learn a few shots in return.
“I’m just trying to copy the way you bat. You have to teach me how you do that no-look six,” Suryakumar said to Brevis in a video posted on Mumbai Indians YT channel.
“I would love to. It would be an honour, but I would love to learn lots of shots from you as well. I want to tell you a funny story of this. My no-look just happens. It’s weird. I don’t know. It just happens. I always felt that if I keep my head down it helps. And then it just happens,” Brevis replied.
I must learn and I want to learn from you: Brevis to Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav, who was the third-leading run-scorer in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, is arguably one of the most consistent performers in T20Is at the moment. Brevis, who is aware of Yadav’s achievements in recent times, appreciated the cricketer and said that he must learn from the 32-year-old in order to get better.
“What you have achieved in the World Cup, being able to just bat like that throughout the tournament. It’s not just in one match with the strike rate up there, average up there, runs up there and everything. Congratulations on being the no.1 T20 batsman. That’s just insane. If anything, I must learn and I want to learn from you,” Brevis said.
Notably, Brevis will be seen representing MI Cape Town in the upcoming SA20 League while Suryakumar Yadav is currently playing for India in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
