India breathed a sigh of relief when they got rid of an in-form Litton Das who was single-handedly taking the match away from them during their ICC T20 World Cup  2022 Super 12 encounter at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 2. It was a much-needed breakthrough for the Indian team with a rain delay bringing the target down to 151 from 16 overs.

Courtesy of Litton's onslaught in the Powerplay overs, Bangladesh succeeded in scoring 60/0 in the first six overs chasing a stiff target of 185 before rain gods intervened. Litton looked to continue from where he had left off after the break, but a lapse in concentration ended his stay in the middle.

India get the key wicket of Litton Das

This unfortunate turnaround for Bangladesh happened in the eighth over. On the second delivery, Najmul Hossain Shanto advanced down the track and hit one to the deep mid-wicket off a fuller delivery. The ball was collected by KL Rahul in the deep and he took an aim at the bowlers' end.

However, Litton Das was already committed to take the second run and decided to take a big chance against the fielder as he ran towards the danger end. Das was well short of his ground when the bails were dislodged as the Indian players and the spectators celebrated in ecstasy.

Das had no other choice but to take a long walk back to the pavilion as his wonderful innings ended in a bizarre manner. He went back scoring 60 runs off 27 deliveries at a strike rate of 222.2 including seven fours and three sixes.

Litton's wicket seemed to have created a sense of panic in the Bangladesh dugout as they went on to lose their top-order in just a matter of time including the big wicket of skipper Shakib Al Hasan. Though Taskin Ahmed and Nurul Hasan took the game deep eventually Bangladesh fell short of the target by five runs in a last-over thriller.
