The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash has got underway at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 stages and the scenes were unreal at the ground. The crowd gathered in numbers for the rivalry and one incident that took the spotlight early was Rohit Sharma getting emotional during the national anthem.

Notably, Rohit has been part of the T20 World Cup since the maiden edition in 2007 however, this is the first game for him as a captain in World Cups. There is no better feeling than representing your country at World Cups and the national anthem is a fantastic way to remind the fans of the emotions

While the national anthem was being played, Rohit, towards the end of the it, became quite emotional and felt very difficult to control himself. He looked up the skies to realise the moment and had a big smile with a shoulder tap around his players. The fans stood up for the anthem and paid their respect and love for the nation.

Meanwhile, Rohit opted to bowl first after winning the toss at the mighty MCG ground. Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal were the two bowlers to sit out while Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda also warmed the bench from the 15-man squad for the Pakistan clash.

So far, it has been India with the upper hand in the game as the new ball bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh made life difficult for the Pakistan openers. Babar Azam was removed for a golden duck by Arshdeep with a vicious in-swinger that curled back quite well.

In his next over, Arshdeep surprised Mohammad Rizwan with a bouncer and his plan worked well as the top edge took the ball straight into the hands of the deep fine leg fielder, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Two early wickets took a toll on the scoring rate and the Indian seamers were on the money in the powerplay.
