Former India captain and legendary cricketer-turned-commentator Sunil Gavaskar was all pumped up after India won the game against Pakistan in what was the campaign opener for both teams at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. It was a thrilling contest between the two sides, just like always, as Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya contributed brilliantly towards India’s win.
The game came down to the final over, and that was just not enough as everyone held their nerves till the final delivery of the game. Run-machine Virat Kohli delivered a masterful performance for the Rohit Sharma-led Team India in their season opener at the storied MCG, smashing a blistering half-century to set up a historic final-over victory for India over Pakistan.
All the presenters had gathered near the boundary line of the stadium when India needed one run off the final delivery to win the game. The bunch included Irfan Pathan, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Sunil Gavaskar, and sports presenter Jatin Sapru, who shared the video of 73-year-old Gavaskar’s child-like celebration after Ashwin scored the winning runs and India bagged a massive win.
Gavaskar was seen jumping out of joy, just like a little kid in a candy store. Sapru shared the video on Twitter and captioned it: “Don’t have a caption for this … Don’t think it needs one .. #INDvsPAK.”

The World Cup winners' celebration in the viral video quickly became the topic of discussion on social media. The video has garnered more than 60000 likes, more than 6500 retweets, and over a million views in the past 12 hours. And Gavaskar’s emotions were very much relatable, as every Indian cricket fan went through the same feelings when India won.
Virat Kohli's masterclass helps India win the high-pressure contest
Speaking of the high-pressure clash between the arch-rivals, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya set the tone straight for India by picking up three wickets each. But Pakistan managed to post a 160-run target. India’s start was terrible as four wickets fell in the first seven overs.
It was then the partnership between Pandya and Virat Kohli that resurrected India’s innings, with the latter doing a major chunk of the scoring. Amid all the last-over drama, Kohli’s 53-ball 82* stood out as he managed to remain calm under pressure and won the game for India.
