T20 World Cup 2022: Super 12 - SL vs IRE - Best Memes from the game

Team Sri Lanka completed an easy victory over Ireland in both teams' first match of the Super 12s encounter being played in the  T20 World Cup 2022. Sri Lankan bowlers were right on the money from the start as they restricted Ireland to a low total before chasing it down easily in the end. 

Talking about the match, Ireland won the toss and opted to have a bat first at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. The batting team had the worst possible start as they lost their skipper Andrew Balbirnie in just the second over of the match. 

The Irish team was then jolted by another blow as Lorcan Tucker also got out inside the field restrictions. However, Paul Stirling was going strong on the other end. He was then joined by Harry Tector as both batters helped the Irish side to cross the 50-run mark.

Just when it looked like Stirling and Tector had stabilized the innings, the former was scalped by Dhananjaya de Silva on his score of 34 runs. Apart from Tector who stroked 45 runs, none of the other Irish batters could get going as the batting team managed to get just 128 runs in their allotted 20 overs and lost eight wickets in the process. 

Sri Lanka made a mockery of Ireland's total 

Chasing a small total of 129 runs, Sri Lanka batters came out swinging. Opening batters Kusal Mendis and De Silva took charge against the Irish bowling line-up and killed the game within the field restrictions. Even after De Silva got out, Mendis continued his batting and soon completed his fifty as well. 

After the fall of De Silva, Charith Asalanka joined Mendis in the middle and they both ensured that Sri Lanka win the contest easily in the end by nine wickets with five overs to spare. While Mendis remained unbeaten on 68 runs, Asalanka played a knock of 31* runs. For Ireland, Gareth Delany was the only wicket-taker.
