T20 World Cup 2022: Suryakumar Yadav reminisces his knock against Netherlands, celebration with Virat Kohli
Suryakumar Yadav completed his half-century off the final delivery
Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have emerged as India’s saviors of late, given their knocks and partnerships in the recent few games. The two have been a force to reckon with, and ever since Kohli gained his mojo back, India’s batting order has seen a drastic change. In the recent game against the Netherlands, the duo shared an unbeaten 95-run stand for the third wicket, helping India in a winning cause.
While Kohli managed to complete his half-century early before the innings ended, Suryakumar Yadav hit a maximum off the final delivery of India’s first innings and completed his half-century. As Kohli and Yadav started walking off the field, they celebrated India’s finish in a unique animated fashion that caught everyone’s attention.
A day after India’s 56-run victory over the Netherlands, Suryakumar Yadav revisited his knock and shared a video of him watching the video of the six that he hit on the final delivery. He was also seen grinning as Kohli applauded the batter's six hits, as he captioned the post: “Review. Reflect. Repeat.”
Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli's camaraderie
Suryakumar Yadav has been in great touch this year, and has been one of the most consistent batters in India’s setup. He’s the leading run-scorer in T20Is this year, but could not work his magic against Pakistan as he was dismissed for a low score. Kohli, on the other hand, bagged his second consecutive half-century of the tournament and has so far amassed 144 runs from two games.
Suryakumar Yadav has been active on social media, and his recent bonding with Virat Kohli has been seen by many. He has either dropped a comment on Kohli’s Instagram post or shared an appreciation post on his Instagram wall for Kohli saying “Manlaa re Bhauu” (Marathi). In Kohli’s recent match-winning post on Instagram after the Netherlands game, Yadav gave a nickname for their duo and dropped a comment “SurVir”.
India’s next game at the World Cup is against South Africa, and the team members and fans would be hoping for another Kohli-Yadav classic if the openers fail to fire. A victory in the next game would take India closer to the semi-finals.
