Having already made it to the Super Eight stages of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team sits in quite a comfortable position atop their group in the marquee tournament. Their final Group A game at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to a wet outfield.

The game against Canada saw no result produced as both teams shared a point with each other. After the game was called off, India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, paid a surprise visit to the Canada dressing room. He was also presented with a signed jersey from all the Canadian players.

Dravid also gave a short speech about his time playing for India, even recalling his short stint of playing against Scotland in 2003. "Thanks a lot. Want to acknowledge and appreciate the fantastic contribution that you have made to this tournament. I think all of us recognise the struggles and the challenges that you all have to go through to be able to play this sport,” Dravid said.

India take on Afghanistan in Super Eight clash

Speaking of the T20 World Cup and the Indian team, after comfortably qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament, the Men in Blue will be taking on Afghanistan in the Super Eight stage. Their first game of the Super Eight will see them take on Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Thursday, June 20.

The Men in Blue led Group A with three wins and one game producing no result. As for Afghanistan, the side has played three games in Group C so far, and having won every game, the side sits atop their group as well.

As the Super Eight clash approaches, it could be interesting to see how India-Afghanistan fare against each other, as both sides have been in excellent form.
