The recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 final between India and South Africa witnessed a moment of brilliance that sealed India's second title. However, Suryakumar Yadav's game-changing catch to dismiss David Miller in the final over has sparked debate among fans, raising questions about its legitimacy.

With Proteas needing 16 runs off the last over of the nail-biting finale, David Miller smashed Hardik Pandya's low full toss towards long-off. Yadav showed exceptional skills and sprinted across to take the catch. As momentum carried him towards the boundary, he tossed the ball back into play before regaining his balance and returning to complete the catch on second attempt.

The controversy arose when a viral image appeared to show a white line beyond the boundary cushion, leading to speculation about whether the position of the boundary cushion had been altered. However, a fan on social media platform X shared footage of Suryakumar's catch from a side-on angle, which seems to dismiss doubts. The video clearly shows the boundary rope remaining unmoved as Surya balances himself on either side of it while catching the ball.

The clip also witnesses Indian captain Rohit Sharma's reaction to Miller's shot, showing his heartbreak as he expected the ball to sail over the fence. However, his emotions swung in the opposite direction as Suryakumar took a blinder to turn the game on its head.

The Indian team is set to travel back to India after having a two-day delay due to Hurricane Beryl. They will land in Delhi and will be felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
